Cylekx Tutorials / Vector borders

Concept

We use 2 layers, 1) a main pixel image, and 2) a vector graphic border.

Requirements

1 Pixel image

Task 1 ~ open a pixel image, add a vector layer, edit the vector layer

1) Drop an image into Cylekx

2) Click "Layers -> New Layer", select the "Same Size As Current Layer", choose the "Vector2D" type and "Ramp" fill, and press Enter

3) Type ctrl + shift + F, the Shape Fills dialog appears

4) In the Shape Fills dialog choose the "Outline" option and enter a value for the outline size (maybe 30), click the "Apply" button

5) In the Shape Fills dialog click the "Coords..." button, then choose the "Modify Fills" option in the Vector Coords dialog that appears

6) Go to the image and click in one of the control boxes that appeared

7) Go to the Vector Coords dialog and click "Change All Colors", a Color Chooser appears

8) Select a new color in the Color Chooser and click ok (you can edit the alpha also). Do this 4 or 5 times choosing different colors each time, then press Escape

9) In the Vector Coords dialog click "Change Cycle Type", select "Reflecting" in the dialog that appears, and press Enter

10) Go to the image and drag the start and end control boxes closer to each other

The border is completed!

Tast 2 ~ save the combined images as they appear

1) Click the "base layer" node in the Layers dialog (it appeared a while ago), then click "File -> Save As -> Image", choose to save the "Current Layer and Descendants" option when you are asked.

Expand on it...

1) Repeat Task 1 to add a second vector border

2) Choose colors with an alpha value around 127 to make interesting combined shades between your 2 vector borders

3) Right click layer nodes in the Layers dialog and Click the "Visible" menus to see layers separate
