Cylekx Tutorials / Animation 1

First close any open documents in Cylekx (Documents -> Close All), drag and drop the image below into Cylekx

Step 1: Press the "Insert" key to add another frame, click Transform -> Rotate Right, select "Selected Frame Only", in the next dialog select "Rotate Whole Graphic" and click "Ok"

--> -->

Step 2: Click Sequence -> Insert -> New Blend Range, setup the options "1", "10", and "Center To Edges" as below and click "Ok"

-->

Step 3: Press the "End" key to select the last frame

Step 4: Do the following 3 times: Repeat step 1 exactly the same, repeat step 2 but setup the "Insert At" option to the second last frame in the sequence (in turn this will be frame 12, then 23, then 34), repeat step 3 exactly the same.

The first phase is complete! We have generated 45 animation frames. Take a moment to play with this new sequence by using the "Home", "End", and "Arrow" keys to move around in the sequence. Notice that the first and last frames are similar (the last frame being 4 90 degree rotations of the first frame).

Step 5: Click Filters -> Wave -> Concentric Wave, setup the frame process options to "All (45)", in the next dialog click Presets -> Repeating Ripple small (20 pix), and select "Edges Smear", click "Ok"

--> -->

Step 6: Press the "End" key, then press the "Delete" key to delete the last frame

Step 7: Click File -> Save As -> Image, select a location, name, and the .gif format, setup the "Gif Options" dialog as below and click "Ok". (note that the gif codec will automatically quantize all images down to a single 256 palette).

Open the file with a web browser to see the animation...
